Good evening, Rising 12 grade students are required by NC State Law to have a second dose of the meningococcal vaccine prior to entering the 12th grade. Please check with your child's health care provider or the Avery County Health Department to make sure he/she is up to date on vaccines prior to the start of the school year in August. Good evening, All students will need to turn in their MackBooks, chargers, and cases by the end of the school year. The IT department is set up outside of the media center to collect MacBooks. Seniors will need to turn in their MacBooks before graduation on May 31st. There are fees for students who have lost MacBooks, chargers, or cases. Please call the school with any questions. Good evening, We will be hosting a Meet and Greet for our new Men's Varsity Basketball Coach, John Gage, on Thursday, May 9th beginning at 6:00. This will be held in the mid-level commons. Please come out and meet Coach Gage!

Good evening, In the past few weeks, we have had a large number of students who are leaving campus for lunch and then returning. Students are not allowed to leave campus for lunch. This is stated in the Student Handbook on page 8. We have parents calling at lunch time to have their child checked out for lunch. We have students who are riding in vehicles with other students without permission from parents. This is a safety and liability concern. Beginning tomorrow, May 1st, if a student needs to be checked out between the hours of 11:00 to 1:20, a parent or guardian will need to come into the front office to check out a student. Check outs over the phone during these hours will not be permitted. Again, these are safety and liability issues. We are trying to keep all students safe and accounted for. Good evening. This message is for our juniors and seniors about prom tickets. Prom Ticket sales are almost over. You must purchase your tickets by Friday, April 19th. If bringing a date who is not a current 11th/12th grader at ACHS, the date application process was shared with you via email. Prom is May 4th.

Good evening. Spring sports will begin tomorrow, February 26th. Baseball will play at West Caldwell at 4:00. Soccer will play Tuesday at West Caldwell at 5:30. Our women's basketball team will play Rosman in the first round of the playoffs at Rosman. Game will begin at 6:00. Our juniors will take the ACT test this Tuesday. All juniors are required to take the ACT. Testing will begin by 8:30. Juniors may check out once all testing is complete. They must have a note signed by a parent or guardian to leave. All other students will report to their homeroom and remain there for the duration of testing. Thank you.

We will host a 9th and 10th grade parent meeting tomorrow night, Thursday, February 15th. The ninth grade meeting will be from 5:30 to 6:15. The tenth grade meeting will be from 6:30 to 7:15. These meetings will take place in the mini-theater. We will be educating parents about the registration process, dual enrollment, and CTE offerings. Please visit the cafeteria also where CTE will have information about the 16 pathways we offer. School clubs will also be set up in the cafeteria. We hope to see you there!

During this session, staff will share scholarship opportunities available for ACHS seniors including students planning on attending 4 year universities and 2 year community colleges and/or vocational programs.
