Good morning,
With plummeting temperatures and currently wet roads there is the likelihood for black ice this morning. Therefore we will conduct a two hour delay today, Monday, November 27, 2023 with faculty and staff reporting at 9:00 AM
Weekly Announcements November 27th-December 1st
On Wednesday our 7th grade students will take a field trip to Mayland’s Earth to Sky Park. Permission slips need to be turned in by tomorrow.
Save the Date!
The Winter Semi-Formal Dance will be held on Friday, December 8th from 6:00-8:00pm. The cost of the dance is $10 and food will be provided at this cost.
Here are some ways you can help make this special for our students:
Volunteer to serve refreshments, help chaperone the dance or help clean up after the dance. You can also donate food and drink items for the dance.
6th grade-canned drinks and waters (these can be dropped off anytime)
7th and 8th grades-Finger foods (sandwiches, chips & dips, cookies, fruit, vegetables, cheese & crackers)
Please have non-perishable foods to the school by Friday morning (12/8), all other foods please drop off by 4pm.

Weekly Announcements November 20th-24th
On Monday our basketball teams will play at home against Rosman. The girl’s game begins at 4:30 and the boy’s game will immediately follow.
Students will have a free PJ day on Tuesday to help ease into the Thanksgiving break.
Students who are participating in The Amazing Shake on Tuesday will meet in the media center at 9:25.
There is no school for students on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the week in observance of Thanksgiving.

The Ridge Christian Church will be delivering individually packaged meals on Thanksgiving Day between 9:30-12:00.
Forms will be sent home with your child today. If you are interested, forms can be picked up in the office, or you can utilize the information provided here. Thanks to The Ridge Christian Church for this wonderful opportunity!

6th grade students need to turn in permission slips for their field trip to the Earth to Sky Park by tomorrow. There is no cost for this trip and everyone is expected to attend.

This is a reminder that our Canvas session for parents and guardians is tomorrow evening in the Media Center. Sessions will be begin at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00 and 6:30. In order to get your access fully activated, please bring your device (computer, cell phone, etc.) and your student and their school device.
Weekly Announcements November 6th-10th
On Monday our basketball teams will have their first home games versus East Yancey. The girls game will begin at 4:30 and the boys game will immediately follow.
On Tuesday students will take the NC Check In for Math. Please make sure students arrive at school on time with their iPads charged.
On Tuesday evening we will host a session to assist parents/guardians in creating a parent account to view their student’s Canvas classes on a computer and through a mobile app. We will offer sessions in the Media Center at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00 and 6:30.
Thursday is an early release day. Avery Middle will dismiss at 11:45 a.m.
There is no school for students or staff on Friday in observance of Veteran’s Day. Please thank a veteran for their service to our country. We are the home of the free because of the brave!
