Weekly Announcements for February 27-March 3
Good evening Avery Middle families. This is Dr. Coleman with this week’s announcements.
Tomorrow is an early release day. Avery Middle will dismiss at 11:45 a.m.
Our baseball and softball teams play at home tomorrow against Cane River beginning at 4:00. The baseball team will play on the Rec League field at the Rock Gym in Newland and the softball team will play at the softball field on the AMS campus.
On Wednesday our girl’s soccer team will play at Madison beginning at 4:00.
On Thursday our baseball and softball teams will play at Harris beginning at 4:00.
Here are a few dates to add to your calendar:
March 15th will mark the end of the 3rd grading period. Please check your students’ grades and make sure your student turns in all assignments.
March 16th will be a teacher workday and no school for students.
Spring pictures will be taken on March 20th.

Congratulations to our Avery Middle School Teacher of the Year: Mr. Chad Rogers! Thank you, Mr. Rogers, for all you do for your students and our school.
On Tuesday, our 8th grade students will tour Avery High School. Please make sure your student brings in their permission slip tomorrow.
On Wednesday, the 8th graders are scheduled to go to Sugar Mountain. A decision on whether to go on Wednesday or to postpone the trip until March 1st will be made tomorrow. Payment must be made by tomorrow, February 20th.
On Thursday, our baseball team and softball teams will play their season-opening games against East Yancey beginning at 4:00. The baseball team will play on the Rec League field in Newland and the softball team will play at the softball field on the AMS campus.

The Lady Panthers finished the basketball season as conference regular season champions (17-0) and conference tournament champions!
The Avery County School System will operate on a 2 hour delay tomorrow, Friday January 27, 2023. Conditions will be monitored overnight and any needed changes will be announced by 7:00a.m.
Our Lady Panthers will play Rosman Middle for the WHMC basketball conference tournament championship on Monday, January 30th at Madison Middle School. Tip off is at 5:00.p.m.
The basketball tournament games will be played this evening at Madison Middle! Tickets prices are $7 for adults and $3 for kids.
Due to impending winter weather, Avery County Schools will be closed tomorrow, January 23rd, for students and an Optional Workday for staff.
WHMC Basketball Tournament Semi-final games are at Madison Middle School on Monday, January 23rd.
