Weekly Announcements February 26-March 1 We will administer the NC Math Check In on Tuesday. Please make sure students arrive at school on time with their iPads charged. Attention 8th grade parents: There will be a rising 9th grade information night on March 5, 2024 at 5:30 at Avery High School. We will conduct a lockdown drill on Thursday, February 29th. This drill in place of the drill that we missed in January due to weather. Please encourage your students to take this drill very seriously and to remain quiet and still during the entire drill. Weekly Announcements February 5-9
This week is School Counselor’s week. Thank you, Mrs. Powell, for all you do for our students, families and school!
Baseball tryouts will be tomorrow beginning at 3:15 at the Rec. League field. Students must have a current physical on file and be signed up on Final Forms in order to try out.
Eighth graders will travel to Sugar Mountain on Wednesday for the field trip that they missed last week.
Students who qualified will participate in Round 2 of the Amazing Shake on Thursday at the Ag. Center. Please make sure your permission slip has been returned by Tuesday.
There will be a Parent Meeting for all girls who are interested in trying out for soccer. The meeting will take place in the AMS Media Center at 5:30 on Thursday. Tryouts will begin on Monday, February 12th.
There will be an after-school social this Friday, February 9th in the gym. The dance will begin at 3 p.m. and end at 5 p.m. Parents will need to pick up their students no later than 5:15 in the lower parking lot. The cost is $5.00 and a signed permission slip must be returned to school on the day of the event. Please note, permission by phone will not be accepted. Permission slips were passed out last week. Concessions will also be sold during the dance.

The Avery Middle School Junior Beta Club would like to invite all AMS students and families to their annual Beta Club Induction Ceremony. The ceremony will be held at First Baptist Church in Newland on Friday, February 2nd. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m.
