Weekly Announcements May 13-17 There will be a Board of Education meeting on Tuesday at 6:00 at Central Services. We will have a School Improvement Team meeting on Thursday at 3:00 in the AMS Media Center. There will be a chorus concert on Thursday evening at 7:00 at First Baptist Church Crossnore. The end of the year yearbook social will be held on Friday from 3:00-5:00. The cost is $5 and concessions will be sold at an additional cost. Wear your best beach attire! The top 2 beach bums will win a prize! Students must be picked up by 5:15 in the lower parking lot, and they must have a permission slip to stay. We will administer EOG tests next week beginning with 8th grade science on Tuesday, Reading for all grades on Wednesday and Math for all grades on Thursday. Please make sure your students arrive at school on time and are well rested. Again, EOGs are next week. Thank you for supporting Avery Middle School!

Great performances tonight by the Avery Middle School bands!

Dental hygienists will be at Avery Middle, starting tomorrow, doing dental sealants for those students who have brought in a signed consent form. This form was sent home a few weeks ago. If you would like your child to participate, you can send the signed form in tomorrow. There are also extra forms at school if you'd like to complete it first thing in the morning. This is a free service.

Weekly Announcements May 6-10 This week is Teacher Appreciation week. Please encourage your students to take the time to thank their teachers for all they do for them. We are very blessed at Avery Middle to have amazing teachers! There will be a band concert on Tuesday evening in the Avery High gymnasium beginning at 6:00. The 6th grade students will have their next incentive field trip on Thursday. Students will be white-water rafting. The band will be traveling to Carowinds on Friday. We have 2 weeks of instruction left before we begin EOGs. Please stress to your students the importance of focusing in class, completing and turning in all assignments and maintaining a respectful attitude. Thank you for supporting Avery Middle School!

On Friday, April 26th, a group of ambitious high school students took on the role of educators, teaching financial literacy to eager eighth graders from nearby Avery Middle School. The innovative program, spearheaded by Erika Eller, aims to lay a strong foundation of financial knowledge among younger students through interactive mini-lessons. The high school mentors, all members of the high school's Financial Literacy class, prepared a curriculum that covers essential topics, from budgeting and saving to understanding credit and investment basics. The middle school students will fill out a Google Form survey to reflect on the experience.

Free Roller Skating Party this Weekend for Middle School Students at the YMCA! This Saturday, May 4th from 8-10 p.m.

Weekly Announcements April 29-May 3 Progress reports will go home with students tomorrow. Please review these reports with your students and encourage them to finish the year strong. All classes will be completing the End of Year iReady assessments this week. Please make sure your students are coming to school with their iPads fully charged. Weekly Announcements April 22-26 Rising 6th graders will visit Avery Middle tomorrow to tour the school and learn about potential academic, athletic,and social opportunities for next school year. We will administer the last round of NC Check Ins this week. Reading will be given on Tuesday, Math, including Math 1, will be given on Wednesday, and 8th grade science will be given on Thursday. Please make sure students arrive at school on time with their iPads fully charged. Sixth graders will go on their hiking trip on Thursday. Friday is an early release day. Avery Middle will dismiss students at 11:45.
