8th grade parents - don't forget we'll meet on Tuesday, March 18 starting at 5:30pm in the cafeteria for important updates and information about our upcoming trip to Washington. We need everyone to attend this meeting if at all possible! Thank you!


Attention 8th grade parents! We will have high school registration during the day on Monday and Tuesday at CMS. If you would like to reserve a time to help register your student, you will need to call the school Thursday or Friday and speak with Ms Jacqueline to schedule.


CMS Wildcats! Quick announcements for this upcoming week:
1. Friday, March 14 is a Required Workday for teachers so no school for students.
2. Each day this week is a Hat Day as our students and staff hope to raise some funds for a CMS family in need of our help.
3. 8th graders-Mrs Lane needs your Then and Now pictures ASAP!!

CMS Families: a couple of important announcements for this upcoming week. First we will have Reading and Math check-ins Monday and Tuesday mornings. Please make sure your student comes to school on time with a fully charged iPad to complete this assessment. Second, our 8th graders will be visiting the high school on Wednesday as they prepare to sign up for classes for next year. Please sign and return the permission slip we sent home last week so they can participate.

CMS ski/snowboard club: we're scheduled to be in school Tuesday Jan 14 so bring your money to Mr Tufts in the morning if you want to ski/snowboard Tuesday night! No ski/snowboard club if school is cancelled. Thanks and spread the word!


Avery County Schools will operate on a three hour delay on Wednesday, January 8th. We cannot operate buses on gravel roads, Old Turnpike, Curtis Creek, Alton Palmer, Barlow, Russ Norris, Flat Springs, Buckeye, Little Henson Creek, Jerry's Creek, Reservoir Hill, Stacy Creek, Old Jonas Ridge, Dogwood Knob, and Buckeye Hollow roads. CMS families: Update about our school wide field trip to the movies. We are able to work out rescheduling our trip to tomorrow, Wednesday Dec 18. We're excited about this opportunity for all our students! We do need all students to return their permission slip by Wednesday morning before boarding the bus. Christmas Spirit Week Dec 16-20!


CMS students - Due to the 2 hour delay for Thurs, Dec 12, we will postpone our field trip scheduled for tomorrow. Students should come to school prepared for classes with their remote learning work ready to turn in. Thank you!


Attention 8th grade families! Reminder that tomorrow, Monday, Dec 9 will be our time to recognize our 8th grade athletes for both Fall and Winter seasons. We'll honor those students between the girls and boys games.
